We were started as a newly planted church by Faith Baptist Church, Phoenixville, PA.  Our founding Pastor, Kerry Bortz, was commissioned by Faith Baptist Church to plant this church in the Reading, PA area.  Our first worship service was held October 25, 1987, at our original meeting location that was at 1906 Woodvale Avenue, at the corner of South 19^th Street and Woodvale Avenue (just within the city limits of Reading).  Our church became financially self-supporting and independent from our "mother church" in a little over one year.  After outgrowing our original facilities, we purchased our current building on Park Lane and met for our first service there on June 18, 1995.
